Reliance AGM 2021 kicked off with a keynote by Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani. The 44th Annual General Meeting (AGM) was an online-only affair that was live-streamed through the company’s YouTube channel. The Reliance AGM 2021 expectations included announcements in Jio 5G network launch, the low-cost Jio 5G phone in partnership with Google, and an affordable JioBook laptop, among other things. However, we did not get any updates on the Jio 5G phone. The company did announce the Jio Phone Next 4G Android phone and Jio’s partnership with Google Cloud in sectors like Health, Education, and more.

Reliance AGM 2021 news

Jio subscribers: Ambani talked about Jio’s growth in the financial year of 2021. The telco currently saw a net subscriber addition of 37.9 million in FY21 and a total subscriber base of over 425 million. Jio is the first operator outside to gain over 400 million subscribers. Jio handles over 630 crore gigabytes of data traffic every month.

Jio Phone Next announced: Ambani has announced the JioPhone Next, an affordable 4G smartphone developed with Google. Jio Phone Next features an optimised Android operating system co-developed by Google and Jio. Jio Phone Next features also include voice assistant, automatic read-aloud of screen text, language translation, smart camera with augmented reality filters, and more. Jio Phone Next launch date is September 10th. JioPhone Next price in India is yet to be revealed.

Jio Google partnership: In addition to developing a new version of Android OS for Jio Phone Next, Jio will also be using Google Cloud’s technologies to power Jio’s 5G solutions. Using the cloud service, Jio is looking to build 5G services in sectors like health, education, and more.
