Samsung Galaxy S24 series is set to launch in India and globally in a couple of days. The phones have made multiple appearances online and have stopped at a few certifications and benchmarking platforms. These hinted at what to expect from the flagships when they launch. The teaser image and clips posted by the brand on its social media handles mention ‘Galaxy AI’, which suggests the phones would come with generative AI. This will be a huge upgrade as it offers on-device AI features.

Samsung has also opened pre-orders without revealing any details about the phones. Customers can purchase the #Next Galaxy VIP Pass at Rs 1,999 and this is fully refundable if you change your mind. Samsung is promising benefits worth Rs 5,000.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 series’ pre-booking in India is said to begin either on January 18th/19th and the deliveries will begin as early as January 24th. The open sales are expected to start later this month.

As per leaks, the Samsung Galaxy S24 series’ design will be similar to the Galaxy S23 lineup.
  • All three models have a centre-positioned punch-hole cutout for the selfie snapper, flat edges, and narrow bezels around the screen.
  • The Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra have a boxy chassis, with a colour-matched frame, unlike the Galaxy S23.
  • While the Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus have rounded edges on all corners.
  • The volume rocker and power buttons are on the right edge all on three models.
  • The Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24+ have triple cameras on the back stacked individually without any borders. The S24 Ultra has quad cameras and an LED flash.
  • We also see the Samsung logo on the back panel.
  • The USB Type-C port, speaker grills, and a primary microphone are at the bottom.
  • The Ultra version gets S Pen support.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra unboxing and hands-on video

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has been spotted in the wild a couple of times before its official launch. One is the unboxing video, while the other is a hands-on video. The former has been taken down but revealed the Ultra model would come in Titanium Yellow, Titanium Violet, and Titanium Grey colours. As the names suggest, all models will have Titanium material.

The screengrabs from the video show the Ultra model will have flat edges, sharp edges and the chassis is rumoured to be made of titanium. We now get a flat bottom instead of a round shape on the Galaxy S23 Ultra for the S Pen, and a smaller speaker grille.

The hands-on video reiterates the fact that the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will get flat edges. There is a punch-hole cutout for the selfie snapper.

Samsung Galaxy S24 series certifications, benchmarks

  • The Samsung Galaxy S24 series has been spotted on the Geekbench benchmarking platform.
  • This revealed the phones would come with Exynos 2400 SoC. However, there are rumours the S24+ and S24 Ultra in India would come with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC as well.
  • The Samsung Galaxy S24 series has received the FCC certification and this revealed the live images of the phones.
  • The phones have also appeared on Thailand’s NBTC and China 3C certifications.
  • The Samsung Galaxy S24 series has also bagged the BIS certification, suggesting the India launch will happen soon.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus
  • Samsung Galaxy S24: The Samsung Galaxy S24 is tipped to be priced at EUR 899 (around Rs 82,000) for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage. The 256GB variant is expected to cost EUR 959 (approx Rs 88,000).
  • Samsung Galaxy S24+: The Samsung Galaxy S24+ is tipped to be priced at EUR 1,149 (around Rs 1,05,000) for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage model and EUR 1,269 (approx Rs 1,16,000) for the 12GB + 512GB model.
  • Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: Lastly, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra could cost EUR 1,449 (around Rs 1,33,500) for the 256GB model, EUR 1,569 (around Rs 1,44,500)  for the 512GB variant and EUR 1,809 (around Rs 1,66,500) for the 1TB version.

Samsung Galaxy S24 series 7 years OS updates

Much like the Google Pixel 8s series, the Samsung Galaxy S24 series to reportedly get 7 years of software update support. Currently, the Galaxy S-series flagships offer just 4 years of OS updates. However, it isn’t clear whether support involves security patches or full Android/One UI updates. There are chances for the latter turning out to be true.

Exynos 2400 for India

Recent leaks have suggested that the Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus will be powered by Exynos 2400 chipset in India, while the S24 Ultra will get Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. This will be a huge shift from all Qualcomm models on the Galaxy S23 series last year.

There are reports that Galaxy S24+ might also have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 option for customers interested. Since nothing is official at the moment, we need to wait for a couple of days to find out more.

  • Display: The standard Samsung Galaxy S24 is expected to feature a 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED FHD+ 2X display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2,600 nits peak brightness. While the S24+ might get a 6.7-inch QHD+ sAMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and more. 
  • Lastly, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is tipped to sport a bigger 6.8-inch display with QHD+ resolution and a 120Hz variable refresh rate.
  • OS: Android 14-based One UI 6.0 custom skin out of the box.
  • Battery: The Samsung Galaxy S24 is tipped to come with a 4,000mAh battery, the Galaxy S24+ might feature a 4,900mAh battery, and lastly, the Galaxy S24 Ultra could pack a 5,000mAh battery. The phones might come with up to 45W fast charging support.
  • Rear cameras: The Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ might feature dual 50MP cameras with a 3x telephoto sensor and 8K video recording. There could be a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens. The phones could house a 12MP front camera. 
  • The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra could sport a 200MP primary camera with 3x and 10x telephoto sensors. The phone could also house a 50MP telephoto lens, an ultra-wide-angle lens and another zoom sensor.
  • Colours: The Samsung Galaxy S24 series phones might come in Onyx Black, Cobalt Violet, Marble Gray, and Amber Yellow colours.
