- Facebook servers are currently down for several users around the world
- Facebook-owned services, i.e. Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger, are also down for users right now
- WhatsApp has acknowledged the outage and claims it is working on a fix
[Update]: Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp are now back up running. Facebook says that the cause behind the issue was a faulty configuration change.
Facebook and its other popular social media services, i.e. Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger, are currently down for several users around the world. As of now, the reason for this outage is not clear but it looks like this outage is currently limited only to the services owned by Facebook. In response to the outage, WhatsApp official account tweeted that the company is aware of the outage. It added, “We’re working to get things back to normal and will send an update here as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience!” It is currently unclear how long it will take for the company to find a fix for this issue.

As of now (10:08 IST), the Instagram and Facebook feeds are not refreshing and messages are not going through on WhatsApp and Messenger.
Facebook has also shared the same acknowledgement tweet as WhatsApp:
We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience.— Facebook (@Facebook) October 4, 2021
Instagram, being the casual app it is, has shared a more casual tweet on the issue:
Instagram and friends are having a little bit of a hard time right now, and you may be having issues using them. Bear with us, we’re on it! #instagramdown— Instagram Comms (@InstagramComms) October 4, 2021
