Payment options for WhatsApp Business

  • WhatsApp is making it easier for consumers to purchase products on WhatsApp, and pay through various channels. It has added all the popular UPI services on its payment list, and this includes Google Pay, PhonePe and Paytm. If you choose any third-party payment option you will be redirected outside WhatsApp to complete the payment.
  • There are other payment options including WhatsApp’s own UPI service, debit or credit cards and net banking. The new payment options on WhatsApp are now live, and will appear in a list while making any purchase on the app.
  • WhatsApp has tied up with PayU and Razorpay to enable these additional payment options. Earlier, you could only use WhatsApp’s own payment service on the app.

“India, (is) a country that’s at the forefront of a lot of what we’re going to talk about today. You’re (India is) leading the world in terms of how people and businesses have embraced messaging as the better way to get things done,” Zuckerberg said at the event.

New WhatsApp features coming soon

Meta also introduced ‘Flows’ for businesses on WhatsApp that will make it easier for users to perform actions such as choosing a train seat, ordering a meal or booking an appointment. Flows can be used by businesses to provide rich menus and customisable forms to users. It will be available on WhatsApp Business globally in the coming weeks.

Meta is also expanding verification to businesses on WhatsApp. In addition to the verified badge for authenticity, Meta Verified will also offer features such as creating a custom WhatsApp page that is discoverable on the web, and multi-device support. Meta Verified will be first available to small businesses, and later on the WhatsApp Business platform.
