WhatsApp now allows you to pin messages in individual, group chats

• As per WhatsApp, the pinned messages feature enables users to emphasise crucial messages in both individual and group chats.
• WhatsApp assures that all message formats, encompassing text, polls, images, emojis, and others, can be pinned securely with end-to-end encryption.
• The company stated that within groups, admins will have the option to decide whether only admins or any group member can pin a message.
• Users will have a limitation on setting the time frame for pinned messages in the chat pin window.
• The message will remain at the top of the chat as a banner for a duration of either 24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days.

• Messages automatically unpin after their set duration expires unless manually unpinned.
• The intention behind this feature is to enhance user efficiency by simplifying the process of locating significant messages promptly.
• It is worth noting that Telegram and iMessage, which are rivals of WhatsApp, already let users pin messages in both individual and group chats.
• When a message is pinned in a group chat, a system message informs everyone in the chat about the pinned message and identifies the person who pinned it.
• Users joining a group after a message is pinned, those who have lost or cleared chat history, and those who deleted the message before it was pinned cannot see the pinned message.

Other WhatsApp feature

On the other hand, WhatsApp recently introduced a feature allowing users to send voice messages that can be played just once. As an extension of the 'View Once' feature introduced in 2021, the messaging platform now enables users to send voice messages that recipients can listen to only once, aligning with the platform's concept of one-time viewing for multimedia content. The company has initiated the global rollout of View Once voice messages, and it is expected to reach all users in the coming days.
