However, as per a report by Bloomberg, after Netflix, it seems that other popular apps such as YouTube and Spotify have also opted against developing specific applications for Apple’s mixed reality headset at the launch.

YouTube, Spotify apps won’t launch with Vision Pro

  • As per the report, YouTube has no intentions of creating a new app for the Vision Pro at the launch, and its existing iPad app won’t be compatible with the device.
  • Similar to YouTube, Spotify has no plans for a new app tailored for the Vision Pro’s operating system (visionOS).
  • However, it’s anticipated that the music service will still function through a web browser.
  • Both platforms, YouTube and Spotify, suggest users access their content through web browsers on the Apple Vision Pro.

The Vision Pro will reportedly come with Apple’s own music and podcast apps, which directly compete with Spotify. However, the absence of support from Netflix, Spotify, and YouTube means that the most widely used streaming apps won’t be accessible at the launch. However, numerous other entertainment apps, such as Disney+, Peacock, ESPN, Max, and Amazon Prime Video, are actively participating.

YouTube and Spotify did not disclose the reasons behind their decision not to support the $3,499 Apple Vision Pro. Notably, Spotify doesn’t provide an app on competing headsets like Meta Platforms Inc.’s Quest, whereas YouTube does. It is worth mentioning that the tech giant has primarily positioned the device as a platform for video, games, and various forms of entertainment.
