Meta watch gets a notch
The leaked image of the Meta watch which could be the first product out of the newly renamed Facebook shows that it has a notch design. This notch design is likely to house a camera. The picture was reported on by Bloomberg and was excavated from inside Facebook’s app for the Ray-Ban Stories smart glasses. The watch was reportedly codenamed “Milan” and will get a display that is on the bigger side like on Apple Watches.
The leaked image clearly shows a notch that seems to host a camera unit, however, this design might not translate into a real-life product. The watch that was leaked in June gets a second detachable camera. The front-facing camera if present will be used for video calls and has a reasonably high 1080p resolution, or even act as a pathway for numerous software features for Facebook’s AR/VR developments. The watch is also likely to support LTE.
Mark Zuckerberg at the Connect even where he announced Facebook’s renaming to Meta and also took digs possibly at Android and iOS, and called them “closed platforms”. Complications in the form of strong scrutiny after whistleblower Frances Haugen leaked internal Facebook documents. Another hindrance that can be expected comes in the form of the 2014 smartwatch which too goes by the same name, MetaWatch.
