Apple M3 series specifications

  • Design: Apple M3 chips are manufactured on TSMC’s 3nm architecture like the A17 Pro  SoC on the iPhone 15 Pro. They have used transistors so small that about 2 million of them could be arranged “in the cross-section of a human hair”. The M3 Max carries 92 billion transistors, up to 16-core CPU, 40-core GPU, and 128GB of unified memory (industry-first).
  • Dynamic caching in GPU: The local memory of GPU is allocated to tasks as per need in real time which ensures efficient GPU utilization. Apple claims this “significantly improves performance for the most demanding pro apps and games”.
  • More realistic graphics: Apple has added AV1 decoding support and Hardware accelerated mesh shading and ray tracing to M3 chips for graphic-intensive tasks.

So, you see the chips are ever more powerful from a hardware standpoint stuffed with transistors and cores. We also notice a major emphasis on the graphics side of performance.
