  • Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple Vision Pro production is “running at full speed” at the company’s factories in China.
  • The goal is for customer-bound units to be ready by the end of January, with retail units planned for February.
  • The report still notes that any “last-minute production hiccups or other production snags could impact Apple’s timeline.
  • Either way, Apple apparently has set a clear goal in mind and is on track to meet the goal.

Gurman also reiterates how Apple is preparing for the Vision Pro launch in the United States. This includes inviting retail employees to Cupertino for Vision Pro training, prepping retail stores for demos and fittings, and also encouraging developers to prepare apps for VisionOS.

Apple Vision Pro specs

  • Apple’s AR headset is powered by the in-house M2 chipset for performance.
  • There is another chipset on board, called the ‘R1’ and this is used to process input from the 12 cameras, five cameras and three microphones for fast and high-quality content.
  • The R1 chipset is claimed to eliminate lag during the process.
  • The Vision Pro AR headset runs on the new VisionOS, which is customised.
  • Apple is using Optic ID to unlock the headset, make App Store purchases and use Apple Pay.
  • The AR headset creates the digital persona by mapping the face and adding pre-scanned data for the digital avatar. This will be used while interacting with other people.
