CES 2014: ASUS Transformer Book Duet hybrid with dual OS goes official

ASUS has just announced a hybrid laptop cum tablet at CES 2014. The ASUS Transformer Book Duet TD300 is a convertible that comes with a dual-boot option to use it with Android or Windows 8.1. The device is bundled with a keyboard dock that attaches to the tablet to transform it into a laptop. ASUS states it's the first quad-mode dual-boot laptop and tablet convertible in the world. It allows the users to switch between Windows and Android at any time with just a push of a button on the keyboard.

According to the official specs sheet, the device features a full HD IPS 13.3-inch display, and is powered by an Intel Core i7 processor, further supported by 4GB of RAM. The tablet houses up to 128GB of inbuilt storage, while the keyboard dock houses a 1TB hard drive. Other features of the Transformer Book Duet include a front HD camera for video chatting, a microSD card slot, LAN, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports along with HDMI 1.4 output. ASUS claims it can provide up to 5 hours of usage with Windows 8.1 and 6 hours of use with Android 4.2.2.

The notebook/tablet combo will be available in major markets starting March this year, and will be offered in different storage variants with prices starting at $599.
