“The Huawei Mate X features a 6.6-inch display when folded and an 8-inch panel when in tablet mode”
Huawei has officially announced that the Mate X foldable smartphone will be available in India this year. The foldable phone and tablet was launched last month and is the first 5G capable foldable device in the world. The company said at its unveiling the handset will be available in mid-2019 for a price tag of €2,299.
Back then, the company had only confirmed the device’s availability in the European market. However, Huawei believes that India is an important market as well, and will launch the Mate X in the country as well. Expect the smartphone to be super expensive in India. Going by the European pricing, the Mate X could end up being priced around Rs 1,80,000. That’s more expensive than Samsung’s Galaxy Fold and will be probably be the most expensive phone when launched.
We are still not sure about the exact launch date, but Wally Yang, Senior Product Marketing Director, Huawei Consumer Business Group had this to say, “India is an important market for us and we have been consistently investing and expanding our footprint in the market. We are focused on delivering the user experiences that defines the future of smartphone in the smart era. As the leader of the 5G era, we are bringing an inspired, intelligent experience to global consumers in every aspect of their lives. We want our customers here to witness Huawei’s global 5G technological strength, and experience this technology marvel.”
The Huawei Mate X is a foldable smartphone with a proprietary Falcon Wing Mechanical hinge. When folded, the phone has a 6.6-inch AMOLED display, which expands to an 8-inch screen when unfolded. There’s also a third screen when the device is in its folded state, which can be used to take selfies. The device is powered by the Kirin 980 processor, which is paired with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of onboard storage. A 4,500mAh battery is included in the package, with support for Huawei’s 55W SuperCharge fast charging tech. A triple-camera setup is also available that acts as both the front and rear camera. The Mate X also comes with the Balong 5000 5G chipset, which also supports 2G, 3G and 4G.
