As evident from the changelog, the update introduces some visual changes, an enhanced memory management system, and various UI optimisations. Xiaomi has assured that all Xiaomi 13 Pro users will receive the update by the end of January 2024, and Xiaomi Pad 6 users can expect their HyperOS update within the same month. POCO F5 is also confirmed to receive the HyperOS update, while the POCO X6 Pro will come with HyperOS pre-installed.

Xiaomi HyperOS features

  • HyperOS is the successor to MIUI, which has been long-running on Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO phones. The new OS is supposed to be more efficient and should work better across devices, even those with less RAM capacity
  • While HyperOS is an upgrade from MIUI, it doesn’t bring many visual changes; instead, its improvements are mainly in the background.
  • HyperOS promises faster app boot times and increased background memory retention.
  • It also introduces AI features, including AI-generated text through the Xiaoai Input Assistant. HyperOS allows users to capture text in photos, convert doodles into paintings, and search for images using natural language.
  • With HyperOS, users can use their phone’s rear camera as a webcam through Xiaomi HyperConnect and Hypermind. These features allow users to share mobile data with other devices and receive notifications on larger screens.
  • HyperOS introduces new lockscreen customisation options, along with minor UI tweaks to the control centre and stock apps.
