iQOO, which launched in China as Vivo's sub-brand in February 2019, has officially announced that it will be entering the Indian market. This is in line with 91mobiles exclusive report a couple of days ago. While our previous report mentioned iQOO will make its debut in March, the brand is now looking to enter earlier as it has confirmed it will launch its first smartphone in the country in February. Moreover, iQOO claims it will launch India's first 5G smartphone with a Snapdragon 865 chipset. While its name has not been revealed yet, the upcoming iQOO handset will be a global launch in the Indian market. Additionally, the phone will be gaming-focused and pack the "best battery technology."
"iQOO, which stands 'I quest on and on', will be a new smartphone brand from BBK group. It'll disrupt the premium smartphone segment with ultimate performance," said the company's India Director - Marketing, Gagan Arora. The iQOO handsets will be manufactured in India and sold via both online and offline stores. The company, which has its headquarters in Bangalore, has promised to set up independent service centres across the country.

With the key focus on performance, the iQOO handsets will be designed keeping the needs of the new-age smartphone gamers in mind. We expect them to offer similar performance as the Vivo's iQOO smartphones in China, where the handsets have consistently racked up the best AnTuTu scores. The iQOO Neo 855 Racing is currently the best-performing Android smartphone, per the benchmarking site. The handset scored 5,04,432 points on AnTuTu in December 2019. This was followed by Vivo iQOO Pro 5G with 3,27,527 points.
Even though the details are scarce at the moment, we're pretty excited about the upcoming iQOO handset heading to India. iQOO will likely take on OnePlus and POCO in the premium segment. Xiaomi recently said that it was spinning off POCO as an independent brand. Realme has also moved away from OPPO to become and independent brand, and now iQOO is gearing up to launch as a brand new name in India.
