Nokia 9 PureView is the latest smartphone to be put through a series of torturous testing on the JerryRigEverything YouTube channel. As always, the YouTuber applied all his standard testing procedures, including scratch test, bend test, and flame test on the Nokia 9 PureView on video. This should give you a feeling of how durable this phone can be expected to be. To recall, the Nokia 9 PureView comes clad in a glass sandwich design, with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection atop the 5.99-inch display that bears full-HD+ resolution, 18:9 aspect ratio, and in-display fingerprint scanner. The handset is also known for its penta camera setup at the back.
Starting with the scratch test, it reveals nothing out of the ordinary. The Gorilla Glass 5 scratches on Nokia 9 PureView at Moh level 6 with deeper grooves at level 7, which is at similar levels as most other flagship-grade phones these days. The in-display fingerprint scanner regardless of the damage doesn't seem to work all that well.
The flame test, meanwhile, turned OLED pixels white after around thirty seconds. While the pixels recovered, it left a white spot on the handset's screen. Finally, the all-important bend test. The Nokia 9 PureView creaked when pressure was applied, but it did not break or bent. The glass on either side of the handset didn't shatter, which sugeests that the phone's build quality is pretty solid.
The Nokia 9 PureView was launched in India earlier this year at a starting price of Rs 49,999. The handset is powered by a dated Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and boots Android 9 Pie OS out of the box. The phone's rear camera setup includes five 12-megapixel sensors with f/1.82 aperture. Out-of-which three are the monochrome lens and two RGB sensors. For selfies, there is a 20-megapixel shooter on the front. Other features include IP67 rating, 3,320mAh battery with support for Qi wireless charging, 6GB RAM, and 128GB non-expandable storage.
