OPPO A9 with 6.53-inch display, Helio P70 SoC launched: price, specifications

OPPO has officially launched the A9 smartphone in China, putting an end to rumours and leaks. The latest A series handset is the successor to the OPPO A7 smartphone that was launched in November 2018. It sports a 6.53-inch display 19.5:9 aspect ratio display and powered by the MediaTek Helio P70 SoC. In line with the rumours, the device packs a tiny waterdrop notch on the front to accommodate the selfie snapper.

The OPPO A9 is priced at RMB 1,799 (around Rs 18,710) and comes in Green, White, Purple colours. The device is currently available for pre-orders and would go on sale in China starting April 30th.

The OPPO A9 sports a 6.53-inch IPS LCD display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a screen-to-body ratio of 90.70 percent. The handset is powered by the MediaTek Helio P70 SoC clocked at 2.1GHz octa-core processor with Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. It packs 6GB of RAM and 128GB onboard storage that is further expandable through microSD card. The phone runs on ColorOS 6.0 based on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box and will also have GameBoost 2.0 mode for an enhanced gaming experience.

In terms of optics, the OPPO A9 rocks a dual rear camera setup consisting of a 16MP primary sensor with dual-tone LED flash and a 2MP secondary depth shooter for portrait shots. On the front, there is a 16MP snapper for selfies and video chats. The cameras are backed by features such as night scape 2.0 for better low-light photography, HDR, beauty mode, AI scene recognition and AI portraits. There is a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for biometric security. A 4,020mAh battery with AI power management fuels the phone. Connectivity options include 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a microUSB port. It measures 162 x 76.1 x 8.3mm and weighs 190 grams.
