POCO F1 Android 10 stable update released for beta users

POCO F1 received the MIUI 11 update back in November 2019, but it was based on Android 9.0 Pie. Now the company has started rolling out the Android 10-based MIUI 11 update to the handset. However, this latest stable build is only rolling out to POCO F1 beta testers for now and brings the January 1st security patch. The update not only brings Android 10 features, but also includes bug fixes such as the overlap issue in scrolling screenshots, couldn't open notification settings in the notification shade from the second space and also optimised game turbo. The update weighs 1.9GB and bumps the software version number to 11.0.4.0QEJMIXM.

Furthermore, non-beta users should get a stable Android 10 update soon, though there is no specific timeline. If you can't wait, you can download the ZIP file and manually flash it on your POCO F1. However, you can't do that using the stock MIUI recovery as you will need to flash TWRP custom recovery. After Android 9.0 Pie, this is a second major OS update to the POCO F1 since its launch in late 2018 with Android Oreo out of the box. It seems unlikely that the POCO F1 will get updated to Android 11 or Android R in the future, but it's too soon to confirm this. POCO is planning to come back in a big way after announcing it is separating from Xiaomi to become an independent brand. POCO is expected to launch three phones this year, the POCO F1 successor, POCO F2 Lite and POCO X2.

POCO F1 specifications

To recall, the POCO F1 sports a 6.18-inch full-HD+ display with 1,080 x 2,246 pixels resolution, Corning Gorilla Glass layer and standard notch. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor with Adreno 630 GPU. The handset is available in three variants; 6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB, and 8GB + 256GB UFS 2.1 storage that is further expandable up to 256GB via microSD card slot. The phone boots Android 9.0 Pie with MIUI 11 skin on top.

For photography, the handset features a dual-rear camera setup consisting of a 12-megapixel Sony IMX363 primary sensor, and 5-megapixel secondary sensors. The front camera gets a 20-megapixel shooter for selfies and video calling. A 4,000mAh battery with 18W fast-charging support fuels the phone. There is a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for security. Connectivity features include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5, GPS + GLONASS, and USB Type-C.
