"Redmi K30 Pro comes with flagship specifications like the Snapdragon 865 chipset, but only a 60Hz display"
Redmi K30 Pro smartphone was launched earlier today as the successor to the Redmi K20 Pro from 2019. The smartphone comes with flagship specifications such as the Snapdragon 865 SoC, 64MP quad cameras and 33W fast charging, among other things. It also sports an AMOLED display, something that was lacking on the Redmi K30. Unfortunately, the Redmi K30 Pro does not come with a high refresh rate, something that is now expected from phones in 2020. Interestingly, the vanilla Redmi K30 variant, which launched as the POCO X2 in India, comes with 120Hz LCD screen. So why did the Xiaomi sub-brand decide to go with a standard 60Hz refresh rate on the Pro model? Lu Weibing, the General Manager of Redmi, has given a reason behind this.
The executive said that the company had finalised the specifications of both the Redmi K30 and Redmi K30 Pro 10 months before and it didn't want to make any last-minute changes. It was a conscious decision to include a full-screen design and offer impressive battery life instead of a high 90Hz or 120Hz refresh rate that would compromise the battery life.
Furthermore, the company says regardless of the lower refresh rate, Redmi K30 Pro is still a flagship offering and is equipped with Samsung E3 AMOLED panel and 180Hz touch sampling rate, HDR10+ support, TÜV Rheinland Global Eye Care Certification and a peak brightness of an impressive 1200 nits.
The Redmi K30 Pro flaunts a 6.67-inch full HD+ Super AMOLED display with HDR10+ support, 1200 nits, 180Hz touch sampling rate and a pop-up selfie camera. It is powered by a 2.84GHz octa-core Snapdragon 865 SoC coupled with up to 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB UFS 3.1 storage onboard. The handset is equipped with a large vapour chamber (VC) liquid cooling to dissipate heat. It runs Android 10 with MIUI 11 custom skin on top.
In terms of optics, the Redmi K30 Pro rocks a quad rear camera setup with a 64MP Sony IMX686 primary sensor, a 5MP macro lens, a 13MP wide-angle lens with 123-degree field-of-view, and a 2MP depth sensor. For selfies and video chats, there is a 20MP shooter. A 4,700mAh battery with 33W fast-charging support fuels the phone. There is an in-display fingerprint sensor for security. Connectivity features include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, 3.5mm headphone jack, Infrared blaster, Bluetooth v5.1, GPS, and USB Type-C port for charging and data sync.
