“The affordable Redmi Note 7 with a whopping 48-megapixel sensor and Snapdragon 660 SoC was launched in China earlier this month”
The Redmi Note 7 may be headed for a global launch, according to a tweet by a Xiaomi official. The Xiaomi Global Spokesperson Donovan Sung has tweeted a picture of the Redmi phone with the caption ‘Stay Tuned’ – while it doesn’t reveal much, coming from a global spokesperson, it is clearly alluding to a launch outside China market shortly. It is, however, not a surprise since the company’s India head has already teased the Redmi Note 7 launch in the country.
To recall, the Redmi Note 7 was launched in China earlier this month as an affordable offering. It ships with Qualcomm’s mid-range Snapdragon 660 chipset, a 48-megapixel primary sensor, a beefy battery, and a waterdrop-style notch display.

Redmi Note 7 specifications
Before we start, it’s worth mentioning that the Redmi Note 7 is the first smartphone (and the only at present) of the now-independent Redmi brand. Talking about its specifications, the handset packs a 6.3-inch display with full-HD+ (1080 x 2340 pixels) resolution, a waterdrop notch, and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The Android Oreo powered handset rocks Snapdragon 660 SoC under the hood, accompanied by up to 6GB RAM and 64GB storage with microSD card support.
For photography, it sports a combination of 48-megapixel + 5-megapixel depth-sensing sensor at the back and a 13-megapixel shooter on the front for selfies. A 4,000mAh battery keeps the show running, while a fingerprint sensor on the rear adds a layer of security on the Redmi Note 7. In China, the Redmi Note 7 retails for a starting price of RMB 999 (~Rs 10,500).
In related news, Redmi is also expected to launch a ‘Pro’ variant of Redmi Note 7 soon. The handset will most likely be the first of the industry with Snapdragon 675 chipset and, unlike its sibling, the Redmi Note 7 Pro could feature 48-megapixel Sony IMX 586 instead of 48-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL Bright GM1 sensor.
