X (Twitter) has introduced two new subscription plans globally. There are now three X subscriptions in total — Basic, Premium and Premium+. The new X subscriptions are now live even in India, and start at Rs 243 per month. With each subscription you get perks such as the edit button, longer posts, and an ad-free experience.
X subscription plans
X Basic
X Basic is the cheapest subscription plan priced at Rs 243 monthly, and Rs 2,590 yearly. With this subscription plan you get the edit button, longer posts, undo button, ability to post longer videos, top articles, reader mode, background video playback, ability to download videos, and small reply boost.
You also get the whole customisation bundle that lets you change app icons, bookmark folders, customise navigation, choose themes, hide your likes and subscriptions, and the highlights tab.
While you get SMS two-factor authentication and encrypted direct messages, you do miss out on the blue tick and ID verification. You also don’t have access to the creator hub that has tools such as creator subscriptions, X Pro, Media Studio and analytics.
X Premium+
X Premium+ is the other subscription plan launched, and it’s the most expensive yet priced at Rs 1,300 monthly, and Rs 13,600 yearly. With X Premium+ you get access to all the features mentioned above which also includes the blue tick and ID verification, and the creator suite.
X Premium
Then there’s X Premium that was the only subscription plan up until now. In X Premium, you get everything except for two things, which aren’t completely unavailable but you only get half of them. So you’ll get half ads in For You and Following, and a ‘Larger’ reply boost. For context, X Premium+ gives you no ads at all in For You and Following, and the ‘Largest’ reply boost. X Premium is still priced at Rs 650 monthly, and Rs 6,800 yearly.
With the new subscription plans, X has put even some basic features under a paid subscription. It is even testing a mandatory subscription to be able to share posts, and even like them, features that are free on every other social media platform. This is being tested in two countries, and for new users only but it might expand seeing the direction X is taking now.
