Google Pixel 3 Lite ‘Sargo’ spotted alongside other Pixel smartphones, iPhones in new leak

Word pertaining to the Google Pixel 3 Lite has been doing the rounds for a while. Now, the device, codenamed ‘Sargo', has been leaked in live images alongside fellow flagship smartphones, showing a comparative view of its dimensions and design. In the photographs, the smartphone is initially compared to a Pixel 3 XL (review), which is very visibly larger and carries significantly more heft than the compact smartphone.

In fact, the Pixel 3 Lite looks closer in comparison to the original, first generation Pixel, which sported a 5-inch display. The Pixel 3 Lite also appears to be using a plastic build, as has been rumoured before, in comparison to the glass and metal chassis used by the Pixel 3 and 3 XL. The most interesting, however, is its comparison to the Apple iPhone XR (review), where the two devices appear nearly identical in dimensions. The iPhone XR is Apple's less expensive iteration of the iPhone for 2018, although at starting prices of $749 in USA and Rs 76,990 in India, can in no imagination be called inexpensive.

In comparison, the Pixel 3 Lite is so far expected to cost quantifiably lesser than the iPhone XR, while presenting a compact, slightly less powerful take on Google's absolute flagship of the year. In the leaked photos, the Pixel 3 Lite's dimensions appear very close to the iPhone XR and the first generation Pixel, and the presence of slimmer bezels appear to reinstate its rumoured 5.56-inch screen size. So far, the Pixel 3 Lite is expected to house a full HD+ display of aforementioned size, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 SoC, Adreno 615 GPU, 4GB RAM, 32GB storage and a 2,915mAh battery equipped with Qualcomm's Quick Charge 4.0+. In terms of cameras, the Pixel 3 Lite is expected to house a 12MP rear camera with LED flash and an 8MP front-facing camera, and the white plastic body seen so far in leaked images continues the Pixel family's trend of quirky colours on the power button — neon yellow, on this one. Android Pie is practically assured to come out-of-the-box on the Pixel 3 Lite, and the 3.5mm audio port may make a comeback here.

The Pixel 3 Lite is expected to be one of the two smaller/less powerful devices that Google is rumoured to have planned for expanding the Pixel family of devices, and eventually expand its hardware outreach to a wider band of users. The Google Pixel 3 Lite is also rumoured to be priced anywhere between $400 and $500, which can bill it at around Rs 30,000 — a sensitive price point in India that can make the Pixel range a huge hit.
