Turn read receipts off for Instagram DMs
Instagram head Adam Mosseri, and Mark Zuckerberg both announced the new test through their respective channels on the app. According to the announcement, the feature has been introduced based on user feedback. Now, you’ll be able to turn off read receipts in your DMs. If you do this, you’ll be able to open and read messages without letting the sender know.
This feature is currently being tested so not everyone will get it. But you can check if you’ve received it by following these steps:
- Open the Instagram app, and go to your inbox.
- Select any chat, and tap on their profile name that appears on top.
- Then select ‘Privacy and safety’ from the list of options available.
- Here, you should see the option to turn off read receipts for your chat.
There’s no word on when or whether Instagram will roll out this feature for everyone else. But it usually does make feature tests official, so we should be seeing it soon.
Share comments to Instagram stories
This feature has been rolled out globally so you can start using it. You can now share comments to stories, which Instagram says is “a new way to get closer to your audience.” This feature is currently available only on iOS. So what you do is you go to any of your posts, and choose a comment that you want to share. Swipe left on the comment and tap on the + icon that you see. The comment along with the post will be shared to your story.
