Lenovo is reportedly planning to sell the Moto Z flagship modular smartphone and its Moto Mods accessories offline in India. As two-third of mobile phone sales in India happen via brick-and-mortar stores across the country, the Chinese vendor is tapping this segment to boost sales. The brand will offer the Moto Z and its accessories through 300 exclusive Lenovo stores across the country starting January 2017.
Dillon Ye, VP, Smartphone Business Lead of Asia Pacific at Lenovo Group confirmed the news to Economic Times. Ye said that since India is a top market for Lenovo-Motorola, the brand is looking into the market for specific opportunities. At the moment, the company sells most of its smartphones online.
For the uninitiated, the Moto Z (review) was launched in the country in October alongside the Moto Z Play (review). It is a modular smartphone that lets you attach various accessories at the rear thanks to the high-powered magnets. It is one of the slimmest smartphones with a 5.19mm waistline. It comes with a water-repellent coating, a fingerprint sensor, a 5.5-inch 2K display, a Snapdragon 820 SoC, 4GB of RAM. 13MP/5MP cameras, a USB Type-C port, and a 2,600mAh battery. The phone is available in the country for Rs 39,999.
