Ola S1 and Ola S1 Pro electric scooters are set to be delivered starting today i.e. Wednesday, December 15th. The Ola S1 and Ola S1 Pro electric scooter twins were launched in India back on August 15th. With the stupendous hype trailing ahead of the launch, the scooters amassed an astounding one lakh units in booking 24 hours before the launch. The initial batch was scheduled to roll out of the production line and deliveries were predicted to commence in November but the company had to delay it due to the global chip shortage. Last month, test rides began following which customers could pay up the full amount and secure the electric scooter. Four months since launch, the Ola Electric S1 and S1 Pro scooters are finally seeing the light of the day as deliveries commence from today.

The endless number of delays has reportedly taken away from the hype and appeal factor of the two electric scooters despite the scooter packing in a lot of promise. Like the rest of the auto industry globally (as well as domestically) companies have been struggling to keep pace with their order books owing to chip and parts shortages. Many production facilities are running at a lower than optimal capacity. Ola Electric, too, reported similar issues and cited reasons to be chip shortages and shortages in electronic parts to be the primary reasons for the delay. The Ola Electric S1 and S1 Pro scooters were recently brought out for a media drive and impressions from reviewers, enthusiasts, and experts were mixed. While the overall modern and futuristic design and performance spec sheet impressed many, issues that plagued the pre-production scooters were reportedly bothering. Heat management while on Hyper Mode, dead acceleration, and missing features on the MID are some among the list of niggles Ola Electric is yet to iron out. Production models rolling off the line from today onwards are expected to incorporate some basic fine-tuning and updates wherever important.

The Ola S1 and Ola S1 Pro electric scooters offer a 180km range, with a top speed of 118 kmph, and Hypercharge support. HyperCharge provides a driving range of 75 km within 18 minutes of charge, Ola said. The Ola S1 electric scooters come with a 7-inch screen, Bluetooth connectivity with a smartphone, and 8.5kW peak motor power. The Ola S1 and S1 Pro tout a sleek and modern design language and they come in Porcelain White, Neo Mint, Coral Glam, Jet Black, and Marshmellow colour options.

We recently heard that Ola is planning its IPO launch for Q1 2022 and the company is looking to raise USD 1 Billion via the IPO. Ola also plans to introduce a cheaper electric scooter ahead of the IPO.
