OPPO has launched its latest Android custom skin ColorOS 7 in China. Alongside the software, the OEM has also announced that the first smartphone to rock the latest software out of the box will be the OPPO Reno 3 5G. The handset will most likely be a flagship-class offering from the brand and is scheduled to launch in December. As the name suggests, the OPPO Reno 3 5G will support the fifth-generation cellular connectivity. This will make it the first handset in the Reno series with 5G connectivity. Separately, the ColorOS 7 is said to be available to a number of OPPO phones, as well as for Realme and Reno devices in the future via an OTA update.
The new ColorOS version comes with a bunch of features and improvements over its predecessor ColorOS 6. Chief among them is "all-weather dark mode" that turns the entire background pitch black and the text white for easy viewing and extending the battery life. Additionally, ColorOS 7 comes with new aesthetics, better animation, sound effects, and much more. OPPO has also thrown in Hyper Boost mode, Power Saving mode, and Driving mode to further improve the experience of the users.
Going by the previous leaks and rumours, the OPPO Reno 3 is expected to ship with Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 735 SoC ticking at its core. The chipset will most likely support 5G connectivity and is expected to be paired with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM with either 128GB or 256GB UFS 2.1 storage. The phone will reportedly sport a 6.5-inch full HD+ AMOLED display with 2,400 X 1,080 pixels resolution and in-display fingerprint sensor for security.
For photography, the OPPO Reno 3 is rumoured to feature as many as four cameras at the back. The setup could feature a 60-megapixel primary lens (Sony IMX686, most likely), an 8-megapixel secondary shooter, a 13-megapixel lens, and a 2-megapixel sensor. The front phone's front camera may get a 32-megapixel unit for selfies and video chats. A beefy 4,500mAh battery with 30W VOOC 4.0 fast charging is said to fuel the phone.
As for the OPPO Reno 3 price, it's tipped to start at RMB 3,299 (around Rs 33,400) for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant and RMB 3,599 (around Rs 36,500) for the 8GB RAM + 256GB variant. The 5G version of Reno 3 is likley to be more expensive.
