Is POCO M2 Pro a rebranded Redmi Note 9 Pro global variant?
As you can see from the POCO M2 Pro teaser images, the phone has quad rear cameras in the squarish module with the LED flash just below, which looks very similar to the Redmi Note 9 Pro’s Tropical Green colour variant. Another teaser poster confirmed that the POCO M2 Pro will have a dot-notch display, side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and Snapdragon chipset. Going by the alleged Geekbench listing, the chipset is beleived to be Snapdragon 720G coupled with 6GB RAM. All of this is seen on the Redmi Note 9 Pro global edition.
The only noticeable difference between the two phones at this point seems to be the fast charging – the POCO M2 Pro is confirmed to ship 33W fast charging support, while the Redmi Note 9 Pro global variant supports a marginally slower 30W fast charging.
Interestingly, the Redmi Note 9 Pro Indian variant has more or less the same design and specifications as well, but with a slower 18W fast charging and a less powerful 48MP primary camera. The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max also offers a lot of the same features as well. Going by the specifications teased so far, it seems the POCO M2 Pro will be launched between the Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 segment, which means it will be competing against Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 9 Pro in India.
We will have more clarity on what the POCO M2 Pro has to offer once its design and specifications are revealed in full. The company is expected to launch the phone with a disruptive pricing, which means it could potentially trouble Xiaomi’s affordable Redmi phones in the Indian market.
