Leaks over the past few weeks have claimed that Samsung will be launching the Galaxy A50, Galaxy A70, and Galaxy A90 with in-display fingerprint sensors in 2019. Now, a new report from South Korea claims a total of nine Galaxy A series smartphones will be launched this year, but the remaining six will not have in-display fingerprint sensors. Moreover, some Galaxy A series smartphones will feature 3D ToF cameras that have been limited to premium handsets till now.
According to South Korea's ET News, the Samsung has already started acquiring sensors and modules from suppliers for its Galaxy A-series and is on course for a second quarter release. Aegis Technology is said to be the manufacturer of the sensor module. Mass production, on the other hand, will be handled by Partron and Mcnex. To note, the mid-range Galaxy A series smartphones will have optical in-display fingerprint sensors, while the flagship Galaxy S series models will feature the more accurate ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensors.
Reported specifications of Galaxy A50 include Exynos 9610 chipset coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB in-built storage. It could come with a 6-inch super AMOLED display and a 4,000mAh battery. The mid-range smartphone is expected to run Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box and in terms of camera, it could sport a triple-lens primary setup and a 24-megapixel selfie shooter.
The upcoming Galaxy A70 and Galaxy A90 have previously been reported to feature the new Infinity Display designs. However, it is not clear which of the four new Infinity Display designs - Infinity U, Infinity V, Infinity O, and New Infinity - will be used on the two smartphones. Samsung's upcoming Galaxy M series will mark the debut of the Infinity V series.
