"The Mi 8 Youth is expected to be a mid-range offering with a Snapdragon 710 SoC"
If the recent reports are to be believed, Xiaomi is working on a more affordable of its latest Mi series flagship called the Mi 8. The cheaper offering is said to be dubbed the Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth, and is expected to be unveiled at some point in the near future. Ahead of the unveiling, we have already seen a number of leaks regarding the handset's features. Now, the phone has received regulatory certifications from two government agencies — NCC and TENAA.
Talking about the NCC certification first, the alleged Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth has been certified by the agency under the model number M1808D2TG. This is the widely-known model number of the purported Mi 8 Youth in the rumour mill. Sadly, the certification on NCC's website hasn't revealed anything else about the upcoming Xiaomi smartphone.
Moving on to the TENAA certification, the Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth has been certified by the agency with the same M1808D2TX model number. The photos of the handset on the certification agency's website suggest that the phone could feature a notch above the screen, a glass back panel, two primary cameras with an LED flash, and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
As for the specs, the TENAA listing indicates that the Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth could offer a 6.26-inch display with full HD+ resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. The handset is expected to be powered by a 2.2GHz octa-core SoC, which is expected to be the Snapdragon 710. The phone is said to arrive in three RAM and storage variants – 4GB + 32GB, 6GB + 64GB, and 8GB + 128GB. On the front, the device is tipped to offer a 24MP selfie camera. One of the dual shooters at the rear is a 12MP sensor, but there's no word on the secondary snapper. A 3,250mAh battery could complete the list of the specs of the smartphone.
If the listing on TENAA is to be believed, the Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth could be available in tons of colour variants – Black, Rose Gold, White, Blue, Red, Pink, Grey, Silver, Green, Blue-Violet Gradient, and Purple Gold Gradient. Unfortunately, there's no word when the brand is planning to officially unveil the smartphone at the moment.
