Smartphone brands are on their way to outdo them with the possibility of launching phones with 32GB of RAM. It was just in July that we saw the Nubia RedMagic 8S Pro+ launching as the first phone with 24GB of RAM, followed by the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro and the Realme GT 5. They haven’t even expanded to markets out of China yet but there are already talks of 32GB RAM phones in the works. This is the first time we’re hearing of this, and it’s still in the early stages but the possibility is very likely.

32GB phones in the making

This information comes from Digital Chat Station who has a good track record of leaks. According to the tipster, phones with 32GB RAM are currently being tested. One of the reasons behind the huge chunk of RAM is the usage of large language models (LLMs) for AI that would benefit from it.

Still, 32GB would be way too much for an average user. Even flagship phones such as the Galaxy S22 Ultra offer up to 12GB of RAM, and this seems more than enough for whatever you need to do with the phone. 32GB phones have only begun testing so there’s still time for the devices to hit the market. But it won’t be surprising if we actually do start seeing 32GB phones in the near future.

We’ve only just started getting phones with 24GB RAM. There are three such phones so far – Realme GT 5, OnePlus Ace 2 Pro and Nubia REDMAGIC 8S Pro. All three phones are undoubtedly very powerful running the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, offering up to 240W fast charging support, and 1TB of onboard storage. You also get features such as a 144Hz display, 50MP primary camera, 5,000mAh battery and more.

We’re expecting more such phones with 24GB of RAM soon even though so much RAM feels like an overkill. There’s no word on which brands are testing these phones but with the recent launches it shouldn’t be that difficult to guess.
