Vivo V17 will launch in India with a punch-hole display rather than a water drop notch, according to industry sources familiar with Vivo's plans and strategy. We exclusively reported earlier this week that the Vivo V17 will be launched in India in December and will cost around Rs 22,000 in the country. Now, we have some more exclusive information with us regarding a slight change in Vivo V17's design. For those who are unaware, the V17 was launched in Russia earlier this week with a waterdrop notch design. Considering India is one of Vivo's biggest markets, it seems plausible that the brand will introduce it's latest offering with the punch-hole design, which will likely give the handset a more premium look, similar to Galaxy S10.
To recall the specifications on the Russian variant, the Vivo V17 sports a 6.38-inch Super AMOLED display and Full-HD+ (1,080 x 2,340 pixels) screen resolution. The handset has a Snapdragon 665 SoC ticking at its core, coupled with 8GB of RAM. Following a common trend of 2019, the brand has also included an in-display fingerprint sensor on the phone. If we talk about storage, there is 128GB built-in storage that can be expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card if you need more memory. A 4,500mAh battery with fast charge support fuels the handset to last through the day.
Talking about the software front, Vivo V17 runs Funtouch OS 9.2, based on Android 9 Pie, out of the box. For those of you who are primarily interested in the optics, Vivo V17 comes with a quad-camera setup at the back, which is arranged in a diamond shape. This setup includes a 48MP Samsung GM1 main sensor, assisted by an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. There is a 32MP selfie camera, residing waterdrop notch on the front, for taking selfies.
