Instagram posts and Reels for Close Friends

Instagram will now let you keep feed posts and Reels limited only to your Close Friends list. So just like you share stories that only your Close Friends list can see, you can now do the same with feed posts and reels. You can do this by tapping a new ‘audience’ menu and selecting Close Friends before sharing a post or reel.

Only those in your Close Friends list will be able to see it, and the post or reel will be denoted with the green star icon. The same remains for likes or comments on posts and reels for your Close Friends list. Whoever is in the list will be able to view that like or comment. This makes sense since a feed post or reel is still somewhat more public than a story.

New editing tools for reels

Reels is one major focus for Instagram, and it continues to improve this product. It has added new editing tools such as cropping and rotating individual clips, and plans to add undo and redo features soon. You can also add clips with audio to your reel, which Instagram says should help you make more memeable content.

New features for reels

Instagram has also added 10 new English text-to-speech voices, and new text fonts and styles available in hundreds of languages. You can also now add outlines to your texts, and quickly jump to the audio page from the top of the camera roll. Drafts is also getting an update with a streamlined view of all your saved drafts. You’ll also be able to preview your drafts, rename them, and schedule them in advance.

Custom stickers, and filters

Similar to how you can create custom WhatsApp stickers, you can now do this on Instagram. You can make custom stickers from your own photos and videos, and from those on Instagram as well. You just have to long press on the photo to grab and make a sticker. Instagram has also added new filters with subtle colour edits and more expressive options.
