“YU smartphones will only be available from online retail stores”
Last month, Micromax introduced YU, an online-only brand that has been in the press a lot lately, mainly due to the vendor’s exclusive partnership with Cyanogen. Now the company has sent out invites for an event taking place on the December 18th, where it will unveil the first YU-branded smartphone.
The invite doesn’t reveal any information on the device to be unveiled at the upcoming event. However, the company’s co-founder Rahul Sharma recently told 91mobiles that the first YU phone will be packing high-end features. In his words, “the phone is going to be a monster… really cool specs”. The vendor is talking to various e-commerce giants, and is expected to announce an online sales partner for YU devices on December 18th.
Cyanogen has already unveiled its Themes app for YU smartphones, which will act as a store to let users browse and download different themes. We will know more next week, so stick around for updates.
