Samsung Galaxy S11 to reportedly feature 64MP rear camera

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 series is scheduled to go official at the Unpacked event on August 7th. Post which the South Korean giant will channel its focus on the next major flagship; the Galaxy S11 series. The series is reportedly being developed under codename 'Picasso' and is said to feature punch-hole design and 5nm processor. Now, a new report suggests the Galaxy S11 will have significant camera improvements. The handset is said to be equipped with 64-megapixel primary camera sensor on the rear, meaning it has almost 4-times higher resolution than the current Galaxy S10 models. To remind you, Samsung introduced the 64MP ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor back in May.

Furthermore, Samsung's 64MP Bright GW1 sensor supports real-time HDR of up to 100-decibels, high-performance phase detection auto-focus technology and full-HD recording at 480 frames-per-second (FPS) for smooth cinematic slow-motion videos. The GW1 can produce bright 16MP images in low-light environments and detailed 64MP shots in outdoor lighting. If the Galaxy S11 indeed comes with the GW1 sensor, it should offer significant improvements in camera performance over the current-generation flagships. Since we are at least seven months away from the Galaxy S11 launch, things might turn in any direction, so we suggest you take this with a pinch of salt.

Earlier rumours claim the punch-hole design on the Galaxy S11 line-up would be smaller in size than the Galaxy S10 models. Since Samsung already completed the development of EUV-based 5nm FinFET process technology, there's a very good chance a 5nm octa-core processor would power the Galaxy S11. It is also tipped to run on One UI 2.1 based on Android Q right out of the box.
