Xiaomi HyperOS debuted last year in October as the company’s new OS for smartphones. The new OS comes with under the hood improvements for apps, AI features, and minor UI tweaks. It succeeds MIUI that has been long running on Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO devices. It has now announced the rollout of HyperOS for a select batch of eight Xiaomi and Redmi devices. Xiaomi is updating not only the latest phones but slightly older models as well.

Xiaomi HyperOS rollout starts today

Xiaomi announced on X (Twitter) that HyperOS will start rolling out today. This is an over-the-air update so it will gradually reach all eligible users. The first phase of HyperOS rollout has eight devices in the pool. Xiaomi said that release plans for other models will be announced at a later date. 

The first batch of devices eligible to receive the HyperOS update include Xiaomi 13 Ultra, Xiaomi 13 Pro, Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13T Pro, Xiaomi 13T, Redmi Note 12, Redmi Note 12S, and Xiaomi Pad 6. In addition to these Xiaomi and Redmi devices, the POCO F5 is also confirmed to receive the HyperOS update. More devices will be added to the roadmap soon. 

Xiaomi HyperOS: what’s new

  • HyperOS brings smoother animations, faster boot times for apps, and longer retention of apps in the background memory. 
  • It doesn’t add any major visual change but you do get minor UI tweaks, and new lockscreen customisation options. 
  • HyperOS also comes with AI features including AI-generated text through Xiaoai Input Assistant. AI-powered features such as the ability to capture text on Photos, convert doodles into paintings are also available on HyperOS. 
  • It also better connectivity on smartphones with the ability to share your mobile data with other devices, and receive notifications on big-screen devices. HyperOS also lets you use your phone’s rear camera as a webcam.
