Instagram new feature: hide what you’ve liked

  • The new Instagram feature is currently in testing, and it has been spotted on the app’s beta version. Screenshots of the same were shared on X confirming that the feature is already live for some beta testers.
  • This feature can be found under the settings menu of your profile. It’s available in the settings and privacy section, and under “Likes that you’ve made.”
  • Here, you’ll have the option to select who can or cannot see the posts and reels that you’ve liked on Instagram. The options include the default one where everyone can see your likes, only people that you follow, close friends, or no one at all.
  • So you can choose among the list of options, and accordingly your likes will be visible on Instagram. If you’re someone who likes hiding your Instagram activity then this feature might actually seem very helpful.

You will still get to see previews and new likes that you’ve made on posts and reels. The account whose posts and reels you liked will also get to see them. But one thing that’s not clear is how this will affect the like count and views for other accounts. Because if you’re hiding likes from everyone then it might affect the like count for the accounts whose posts and reels you’ve liked.

Instagram does give you the option to hide your like count but it still shows whoever has liked the post or reel. So after the new privacy feature, it might change some things. We’re expecting Instagram to have more details once the feature has been released in the stable version.
