“Redmi 8 budget phone is expected to come with Snapdragon 439 SoC, a 5,000mAh battery and 6.21-inch HD+ display”
Xiaomi Redmi 8A smartphone was unveiled in India late last month, and alongside it, the brand’s India head Manu Kumar Jain teased Redmi 8 could be the next handset launching in the country. Now, it seems Redmi is working on releasing the phone in its home soil, China, too as it is listed on the China Telecom website along with model number M1908C3IC. The listing suggests that the Redmi 8 would sport a 6.21-inch HD+ display with a waterdrop notch to accommodate the selfie snapper and is likely to retain the polycarbonate build. The Redmi 8 is likely to run on Android 9.0 Pie with MIUI 10 custom skin on top
Furthermore, the Redmi 8 would come with 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage, but there could be 2GB and 3GB options as well. The handset is expected to feature a dual-camera setup at the back consisting of a 12MP primary sensor and another 2MP depth unit. For selfies, there will be an 8MP shooter. Like the Redmi 8A, the Redmi 8 will pack a 5,000mAh battery, which is an upgrade over the 4,000mAh unit on the Redmi 7. The handset is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 439 SoC, and there will be a fingerprint sensor on the back for security. It measures 156.33×75.40×9.40 and weighs 188 grams.
Redmi 8 will be available in Red, Green and Blue colour options. The China Telecom listing also reveals that Redmi 8 would cost RMB 1,599 (around Rs 16,000), but the pricing could be a placeholder for now, and the actual price should be much cheaper. Since the handset is already listed on China Telecom database, the launch might be right around the corner and should know more information soon.
