Samsung refreshed its freshly-minted Galaxy M series in India with the launch of Galaxy M30 (review) earlier this year. The handset flaunted a triple camera module and a massive 5,000mAh battery among others, as its highlights. After the success of Galaxy M30, the chaebol is moving forward it seems. A new smartphone with the model number SM-M405F has been spotted on the Geekbench website.
The new smartphone is rumoured to be the successor to the Galaxy M30, aptly called the Galaxy M40. The Geekbench listing of the smartphone suggests that the smartphone will be powered by the 6150 SoC, which is the code name for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 chipset. The process is mated with 6GB of RAM. The listing also reveals that the Galaxy M40 will come with Android 9 Pie pre-installed. The handset scores 2,350 points in the single-core test and 6,410 points in the multi-core test. Notably, these scores are higher than all of the previous Galaxy M series smartphones, which is not surprising considering it will be positioned above the Galaxy M30 as the top model in the lineup.
Previously, the smartphone with the same model number has been spotted on the websites of Bluetooth SIG and Wi-Fi Alliance. The latter corroborated that the smartphone will indeed have the Android 9 Pie-based One UI pre-installed. Rumours have it that the upcoming handset will feature a SUPER AMOLED display, triple rear camera setup and 128GB storage onboard. Apart from these, the speculations are also rife that the Galaxy M40 could be the first smartphone in the M-series to feature an in-display fingerprint scanner. However, other details of the smartphone are pretty scarce at the moment.
The frequency and number of appearances of the Samsung Galaxy M40 suggest that the launch is not far away.
